CHOP Pharmacy Backfill & Shell- Space Fit-Out
Watson is delivering CHOP’s pharmacy backfill and shell-space fit-out at its expanding King of Prussia Campus. The project creates new exam rooms, clinical and support areas, and essential storage space while the surrounding pediatric facility remains fully operational.
The work is taking place within an integrated healthcare campus that provides inpatient, emergency, specialty, surgical, and urgent care. The Specialty Care Center alone includes 63 exam rooms and more than 40 medical and surgical subspecialties, and it connects directly to the Middleman Family Pavilion. The pavilion operates around the clock and includes an Emergency Department, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, neonatal and infant intensive care, inpatient services, and surgical facilities.
Working in this environment requires more than completing a fit-out. Construction activities must be carefully sequenced around patient movement, clinical schedules, life-safety systems, deliveries, and occupied spaces. Infection-control measures, dust and noise containment, secure work zones, and ongoing coordination with CHOP personnel are integral to maintaining safe, uninterrupted care.
The project demonstrates Watson’s ability to bring the same active-facility discipline required on a major hospital campus to CHOP’s growing regional network—protecting patients, families, staff, and operations while creating space for expanded pediatric care.
