UPENN Weightman Hall | Facade Repair & Fire Escape Restoration

At the University of Pennsylvania’s historic Weightman Hall, Watson is leading a carefully coordinated exterior rehabilitation encompassing façade repairs, fire-escape stair restoration, and controlled lead-paint abatement.

Constructed in the early 1900s as an athletic field house and integrated into the west end of Franklin Field, Weightman Hall remains an active campus facility housing Penn Athletics offices and the Penn Sports Medicine Center.

Working within this occupied university environment requires meticulous planning and disciplined execution. Lead-paint abatement is performed under full containment, supported by continuous air monitoring and night-shift scheduling to protect building occupants, pedestrians, and surrounding campus operations. Façade and fire-escape repairs are carefully sequenced to maintain safe access while minimizing noise, dust, and disruption.

The project demonstrates Watson’s ability to preserve a historic institutional asset while meeting contemporary standards for safety, environmental control, and construction quality.
